IN CHARACTER

CHARACTER NAME: Dean Winchester
CHARACTER AGE: 41
CHARACTER CANON: Supernatural (or, if the definition of the word,
"Meta" were an entire series)
CANON POINT: 15x20 "Carry On" after he's spoilered by a rusty nail inside a barn and makes his big Oscar-worthy goodbye speech.
ABILITIES:

Dean was trained at a very young age in combat and marksmanship. He's an expert in hand to hand, a plethora of firearms, knives, and swords. He has a wealth of supernatural knowledge, including wards and sigils that keep out demons and angels. He knows basic Enochian by heart. He also has knowledge of very basic spells, devil traps, and the incantation to force a demon out of a possessed vessel. He can research and perform most rituals with the right prep.

He also carries with him a wealth of pop culture knowledge. He is quite the functional alcoholic. Often fighting and driving after having a few. (I'm not encouraging this, just using it as an example...)

Without Chuck's "god armor" (this canon's God, defeated in the prior episode) he's lived with for the last who knows how long, he's still an exceptional fighter who uses his environment to his advantage. Also, indigestion. It's a thing.

SURVEY

WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUND? WHAT IS THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO WEALTH?:

For his first four years, Dean grew up in a nice two-story home and never had to worry about food on the table. He was pretty shielded from most of his parents' marital problems when they did crop up, and didn't really think about money.

After his mother died, and their house burnt down, he spent the rest of his childhood in and out of motels, a boys' group home, and rarely with friends of the family. His father used all of his savings on becoming and bettering himself as a hunter, and then raising his sons as hunters as well. He's not looking to be, nor does he ever think he will be, wealthy, but he also usually doesn't have two coins to rub together. He learned credit card scamming and identity theft from his father and has used it all his age. He has a number of aliases and always just enough cash to get by, or just to get a beer. When he grew older, he would hustle at local pool halls and get his money that way. Because his dad would leave him and Sam for days or weeks at a time, he was the caretaker and breadwinner. Spaghettios were a delicacy. And Christmases usually involved found gas station souvenirs - or just slim jims and beer.

Dean's never cared about money because he's never had to, but when it came down to it, he did secure himself a job after losing Sam back at the end of the fifth season. He can be responsible when he needs to be and he earns a paycheck. But, hunting is in his blood.

He makes cracks about the rich, especially under their roof, but he won't look a free pool, last credit card, and windfall-shaped gifthorse in the mouth. He has pride, but not about money.

That said, money isn't everything. There are things that are more important than money. And spending fifteen plus years in his life, the stakes are always higher than if he's going to bounce a check. Mostly because, if he would ever write and bounce a check? He'll skip town.

In the past few years, he did find stability, living in a bunker passed down through his family and a secret society of hunters. He was able to not worry about motels as much in having a place to all his own. Most he spends on money's beer and food. But, when he has it? He'll use it. He does use extra scratch they have to fully outfit his very own "Deancave."

He can live without his creature comforts. He can live on very little. But he also has a fastidious germaphobe-side. Socio-economically, if housing comes with rats or roaches, it's a no from him, dawg.

WHAT WOULD/DID YOUR CHARACTER MAJOR IN?:

The school of hard knocks AKA the school of John Winchester. He learned from his dad early on. He learned how to survive. How to take care of his brother. How to scam. How to hunt. How to hustle. How to get what he wants out of someone.

Unlike his whiz-kid genius brother who escaped the life for a time, Dean never went to college. He's set foot on college campuses. He's hunted there and seduced a few sorority girls. But, he never matriculated. He may come off as dumb, sometimes deliberately, but he is surprisingly smart, having grown up around libraries and becoming adept at research. That is, his largest school is probably the movies and TV he's seen along the way. He absorbed everything from pop culture to that point that he is a walking pop culture reference.

So, what did he major in? Hunting 101 with a minor in Television and Film Studies. Technically.

He dreams of having a bar someday, and in an alternate reality, he owned a garage. The only job he takes up is construction, shown to have a resume in the final episode for a project manager position. Maybe he could finally do something semi-normal. That said, if he had the choice. If he and Sam's lives were switched, he doesn't know what he'd major in. What good would it get him?

His brother has the brains and that's okay with him.

WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR CHARACTER?:

A question that's not fair when you're Dean Winchester and you think everything has happened to you and your brother multiple times including finding and losing love, dying, betraying one another and losing multiple parents - in one case, their mother, twice.

But, if he had the question and he had to honestly answer. Interesting is a real shitty way of putting it. But, God, or back then Chuck Shurley: profit and prolific writer, claimed to have visions of he, his brother, Sam, and their life and wrote them into a dodgy YA lit series. Turns out, they got quite the fanbase and stumbled onto the first ever "Supernatural" convention. They became so popular that a girl in a small town used one of her theatre projects to do a musical about he, his brother, Cas, and their life.

He's famous, even if nobody believes he is who he is.

He also knows in "our reality," his life is a TV show called Supernatural. His name is Jensen and his brother's actor is some Polish guy.

On a hamster wheel or not, it's interesting that people have intimate knowledge of his deep dark squishy moments.

DESCRIBE YOUR CHARACTER USING ONE SONG FROM THE EARLY 2000S:

"Welcome to the Black Parade" - My Chemical Romance, but Heaven help anyone who would point that out to his face.

NAME 1-3 VICES YOUR CHARACTER INDULGES IN:

Alcohol, Holding a Grudge, and, at one point in his life, Sex. But, it's been several years since he's even thought about it. He was possessed, awol, became a dad of sorts - and the whole universe rested on his and Sam's shoulders. Even if he wanted sex from anyone on or off the canvas, at a certain point he never acted on it. Sex aside, he watches SO MUCH TV and MOVIES. There's nothing better to turn your mind off.

His two other runner-ups are Fatty Foods and Porn. Because he used to indulge in a lot of porn.

WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER'S LIQUOR OF CHOICE?:

Bourbon. Hands down. Ice or no ice. He can put a bottle away.

HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER LIKE THEIR EGGS?:

Either fried or scrambled, it doesn't mind either way, but always with bacon on the side. Usually, he has to scarf them down, anyway, always moving to the next thing.

IF YOUR CHARACTER HAD TO DRINK SOMEONE'S DIRTY BATHWATER, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?:

Okay. So. Cas is an angel. And in a vessel. So, he probably thinks, how bad's that bathwater really going to be? He knows the creepy fans want him to drink his brother's, freaks, but he wouldn't? There's a line. But, Cas. If it's a one-time thing.

He went through a whole widower arc for the guy. And holds long, long grudges. The guy's family at this point. Families fight, but they come together. He co-parented with him.

He objects to this question, though. Sick, sick shit.

That said, do you know where Saltburn is streaming because period pieces are right up his alley though...
